EVENT: Femi Kuti and The Positive Force @ 9:30 Club

Femi Kuti and The Positive Force are blessing the DMV with a show at the 9:30 club on Saturday April 23rd. Having the father of Afrobeat, Fela Kuti, as your father only makes sense for Femi to take the reigns and continue to spread the power and heat of Afrobeat music. The group weaves in telling tales of political corruption, love for life, people, and one’s country, with African drums and horns. Take a listen for yourself here and here are the event details:

Mid City Artists is holding an Open Studios that is free and open to the public. It is a twice-yearly event that draws hundreds to the Mid City area in the heart of DC. SIGHT: Lunch Break Video Series

LunchboxTheory Productions has started a new video interview series and the first person being featured is an Iraqi hip/hop artist based out of Montreal by name of, The Narcicyst. Check out the interview below and also make sure to stop by on Wednesday, October 27th at the US Institute of Peace
Presentation and talk with the Narcicyst and Omar Offendum on Art and Identity, from 2-5 PM. The event is being held in the USIP’s 2nd floor conference room, 1200 17th Street, NW, Washington, DC 20036! More event info here.

i-D Magazine This UK mag covers music, fashion and youth culture started by a former Vogue art director in 1980. The magazine has evolved over the years into being a little more glossy and having signature covers where all the cover models are winking!

Paste Magazine This is a relatively new magazine, started up in 2002 by three guys down in Georgia and started initially as a bimonthly magazine and recently converted to monthly. The mag covers strictly music and entertainment industry.

LIQUID SOUL – A Liquid Arts Experience
by AM Radio + Vitamin Water

LIQUID SOUL is a live arts experience where the artists of AM Radio will create
live art pieces mixing actual Vitamin Water into their paints as well as the
flavor each artist uses will also  serve as the inspiration for their piece
which will allow for a truly  authentic experiential experience.
